Community Building

In January and February we will be starting out the new year with a series of lessons to help our children learn from one another and build stronger bonds within our spiritual family. The themes of our lessons will be:

Getting to Know One Another

Issue: How can we build a caring community if we are all different? Unity Principle: #2- “I am naturally good because God’s divinity is in me and in everyone.”

Building Our Village

Issue: How do we work together to build a village, incorporating each person’s gifts? Unity Principle: #1 - “There is only one power and one presence in the universe, God, who is all good and active in everything, everywhere.”

Peacemakers Defined

Issue: How can I be a peacemaker in my world? Unity Principle: #5 - “I do and give my best by living the Truth I know. I make a difference.”

Listening From the Heart
Issue: How can I be a better listener? Unity Principle: #3 - “I create my experiences by what I choose to think and what I feel and believe.”

Expressing Empathy

Issue: How can I identify my own and others feelings? Unity Principle: #1 - “There is only one power and one presence in the universe, God, who is all good and active in everything, everywhere.”

Effective Communication

Issue: How can I identify my own and others feelings? Unity Principle: #3 - “I create my experiences by what I choose to think and what I feel and believe.” #4 - “Through affirmative prayer and meditation I connect with God and bring out the good in my life.”

Responsibility

Issue: To discover how to create a life I am proud of. Unity Principle: #3 - “I create my experiences by what I choose to think and what I feel and believe.” #4 - “Through affirmative prayer and meditation I connect with God and bring out the good in my life.”

Understanding Conflict

Issue: To discover how to have a win/win outcome when we are in conflict. Unity Principle: #1 - “There is only one power and one presence in the universe, God, who is all good and active in everything, everywhere.” #5 - “I do and give my best by living the Truth I know. I make a difference.”

Youth of Unity

News

The West Central Unity Regional YOU held there annual Kid's Camp in  June. Danny was a Kid's Camp counselor at the regional camp at Valley of the Moon Camp, in Sonoma.  The camp is a service project for the West Central Youth of Unity. The counselor's pay their own way to attend the camp and go through extensive training.  The camp is for children 7 to 11 and they learn meditation, Yoga, creative drama, and they do fun things like go on a hike and swim.  Danny did a really good job as a counselor and the kids loved him.  Danny really enjoyed being a counselor.  The Fresno Youth of Unity went on an outing on Sunday, July 12th.  We went to the Sierra Vista Mall and walked around and the kids got to know each other a little better.  It was a way of forming community within the group and we look forward to doing it again.  The Youth Education Department is still working on our fund raiser for Heifer International.  We appreciate all the gifts that have been given for this fund.  The Youth of Unity has enjoyed having the Fellowship Hours and we appreciate the attendance of the people in the congregation.  We look forward to continuing these monthly events.  We hope you enjoy attending as much as we enjoy doing the luncheon.
